Ruby Oolong is our first offering of tea from Thailand, and what an offering it is. The tightly rolled globe-shaped oolong undergoes a fairly dark oxidation and slow baking, which gives it a toasty, creamy aroma quite like a fresh brioche bun. Notes of black cherry, baked bread, and minerals nip at your senses and a deliciously sweet finish lingers when it's cooled down. As a good oolong should, this tea is re-steepable multiple times and only gets warmer and sweeter.
This tea is a Jin Xuan cultivar, which gives it a naturally sweet, creamy finish. It's grown on the slopes of a mountain in the far north of Thailand, near the Myanmar border, an area that is lush in biodiversity and is ideal for growing rich, flavorful teas. Hand plucked, slow baked, and rolled, this tea is artisanal from start to finish.
